DNS error page instead of popup in Firefox

I hate it when applications steal my focus in Windows. How much I love Firefox (any version), I really hate it when it steals the focus. When there’s a problem reaching a certain website (DNS error for example) Firefox displayes a popup window, which steals and – even worse – holds the focus. There’s simply no way to browse your other tabs when this dialog is displayed …

But luckily there’s a way to circumvent this problem, here’s how.

Go to about:config in Firefox, and search for the following variable, and set it to true (double click or edit the value).

browser.xul.error_pages.enabled

Now Firefox won’t pop up a warning, but she’ll (*) display an inline ‘page’ .. no damn popup anymore!
