Speedfan configuration for the Asus P5W DH Deluxe

I’ve got myself a new rig – take a look for yourself :)

Anyway, I have no idea if most people know that it is possible to control the RPM of fans connected to your motherboard via SpeedFan, but here’s how I managed it for my new P5W DH Deluxe …

I connected my Zalman CNPS7700-Cu CPU cooler directly to my motherboard CPU_FAN plug, not using the Zalman FanMate2. The same goes for my Zalman VF900-Cu, which is connected to PWR_FAN1.

Take a look at these 2 screenshots, as you can see, bringing the % of down, lowers the RPM of the fans too, taking the noise levels down with them. At around 75%/80% they are truly unhearable!

Speedfan main window - speeds at 75%

Speedfan main window - speeds at 100%

So, if you want to have control over your fans RPMs, download speedfan, and change the default variables and checkboxes to what you see in these screenshots.

speedfan configure screen 1 speedfan configure screen 2

speedfan configure screen 3 speedfan configure screen 4

If you are having troubles figuring everything out, gimme a yell :p

I have a P5W DH and i cant figure out how to setup speedfan so it actually reads my board so i can control the fan speed…

Compare the screenshots above, follow the red surrounded things …

Great read, worked perfectly. My issue is the temperatures reported by this board: I find it hard to believe that, like mine, your board is at 34C while the cpu is a mere 21C

board temp is measured in the southbridge hence high temps

Seriously – thats nice!! Thanks for the details!! I’m a big fan of speedfan myself and have only been buying motherboards that I can use speedfan with. Though my Asus p5wd2 will not let me control my cpu_fan, only cha_fan1.
But my question is; can speedfan control ALL the fan connectors at the p5w dh deluxe??

I think it does, but some connectors are controlled by the same controller … uhm … I mean: when you change the speed of fanA it’ll change the speed of fanB too, I think CHA_FAN1 and CHA_FAN2 use the same controller …

I think my prob is way too complicated
i m running my pc at 50C idle and 79C at 99% CPU usage and its damn hot
I bought a new thermal grease and nothing i was wondering how can make my intel fan spin more then 2500RPM is there an answer out there ? thanks everyone!

    hello thanks for the posts
how did u get P5W DH DL recognized in speedfan?

You need to find a solution fast, because above 83°C you are irreversibly damaging your CPU! Did you try disabling all that “smartfan” shit in your BIOS?

And getting the P5W recognized in Speedfan is … euhm … renaming the “temp3″ value :)

Hey guys. I’m running an Asus P5N-SLI mobo, and changing things in Speedfan doesn’t seem to do anything for me.. All my fans are plugged into my mobo 3-pin thingy’s but changing the values in Speedfan has no effect on the fan speeds. (Using a AC Freezer 7 Pro HSF and 3 generic case fans, i’ve had enough of the noise!)

Q-Fan controller is set to OFF in the BIOS, and i’m stuck for ideas.

    Any ideas?

Hey, I know I’m late to the party, but I just found out about this great tool via this website. One thing that puzzles me: How can I actually enter the name(s) of my CPU, GPU, Fans etc. as seen in the very first screenshot? Thanks!

Nevermind – I just found out that F2 does the trick. Doh. ;)
